Pandemic aside, it actually amazes me that we in the west haven't been using masks 
before this.  
Of all the trips I took on Ligne 13, sometimes being bathed by the sweat of the 
occupants in a rammed carriage in the summer, it now makes me think why I would 
have allowed those same people to breathe on me (don't get me started on the physical 
contact and pickpockets).
And actually, we've not seen here in France the flu hitting as hard as it did in previous 
years (in 2018/19 we saw the whole country except Bretagne become a massive red 
zone).  
Don't get me wrong, the flu is still around but it's not getting the leverage it normally 
has because of social distancing and masks.
Purely on a Parisien level, I think we've all re-calculated our personal space  requirements from what they were to what any other country would consider as normal 
:D
