• Scanner problem: gray background

From Shanen@VERT to All on Wed Jul 19 18:01:00 2023
    Hi all,

I still have an HP 2620 All in One printer that I use mainly for its scanner under GNU/Linux. Recently, the scans started to have a heavy grey background which consumes a lot of ink when printing.

I was able to resolve this issue by increasing the brightness in Simple
Scan's preferences, but another Smart Tank All in One printer didn't need
    such an adjustment.

So I'm wondering what may have caused this. Have you experienced something similar? Could it be that the lamp is starting to die? If so, would changing
    it be a good idea?

    Thanks in advance.

I gave a phone call to HP, and they advised me to use the copy function,
since it's an all in one printer. And there was no gray background on the
copy, so at least it's clear it's not a hardware problem. What caused it is still a mystery (maybe the fact that I added a "smart tank" printer), but
it can be solved by a simple preference modification.
