      Title: Aladdin's Baklava

      Yield: 40 Servings
 
      1 lb Phyllo dough
      1 lb Chopped walnuts
      1 ts Ground cinnamon
      4 tb Sugar
      1 lb Solid vegetable shortening
MMMMM------------------------HONEY SYRUP-----------------------------
      2 c  Water
      4 c  Sugar
      2 tb Honey
      1 tb Lemon juice
 
  Prepare honey syrup (below) and let cool.
  
  Preheat oven to 350ºF/175ºC.
  
  Grease 18" by 12" heavy pan with high sides with
  shortening. Do not use a cookie sheet.
  
  Add half of dough. Combine nuts, cinnamon and sugar in
  bowl. Sprinkle over layer of dough. Top with remaining
  half of dough. Make diagonal crisscross cuts through
  dough, an inch apart, creating diamond-shaped pieces.
  Pour melted shortening over all and bake 45 minutes.
  
  Cover with cold syrup. Let baklava cool before serving.
  
  HONEY SYRUP: Bring water and sugar to boil in saucepan.
  Add honey and lemon juice.
