      Title: Shuroe (Spiced Chick-Pea Flour Mix And Sauce)

MMMMM-------------------CHICK-PEA & SPICE MIX------------------------
      1 c  Chick-pea flour
    1/2 ts Ground turmeric
    1/2 ts Fresh gingerroot; grated or
           - ground
    1/4 ts Paprika
    1/4 ts Hot red chile powder
    1/4 ts Ground aniseed
MMMMM---------------------------SAUCE--------------------------------
      1 c  Water
      1 ts Corn oil
      2 tb Chick-pea flour mix
    1/2 ts Salt
 
  Shuroe is a mix of chick-pea flour and spices. Chick-pea
  flour is known as "besan" in India and is available at any
  Asian dealing with Indian products.
  
  In a bowl, mix together the chick-pea flour, turmeric,
  ginger, paprika, chili, and aniseed. Mix well and set aside.
  
  TO PREPARE THE SAUCE: In a skillet, bring the water and oil
  to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of the mixture and the salt.
  Simmer over low heat 3 to 4 minutes. The sauce will thicken
  quickly to a thick puree.
  
  Serve warm with Injeera. Or serve the sauce with any wot
  (stew) as a side dish. Makes 2 servings.
  
  Reserve the remaining shuroe mix for another occasion.
