      Title: Lady Webster's Gingerbread

      Yield: 9 Servings
 
      8 oz Plain flour
      8 oz Treacle
           +=OR=+
      4 oz Treacle
           +=AND=+
      4 oz Syrup
      3 oz Brown sugar
      1 c  Whole milk
      1 ts Mixed spice
      4 oz Butter
      1 lg Egg
    1/2 ts Baking soda
      2 tb Ground ginger
 
  Mix all dry ingredients together, melt butter & treacle
  in the milk. When dissolved and well mixed pour on to
  the beaten egg. Mix in the dry ingredients (and add 2
  or 3 oz of candied peel if desired).
  
  Pour into well greased tin of 2 pound size. Bake in a
  moderate oven for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The mixture should
  be slack like a thick brown sauce (added Lady Riddell-
  Webster at W. R. I. show).
