Title: Grandma Brubaker's Orange Cookies

1 c Shortening
2 c Sugar
2 lg Eggs; separated, room temp
1 c Buttermilk
5 c A-P flour
2 ts Baking powder
2 ts Baking soda
pn Salt
2 md Navel oranges; juice &
- grated zest

MMMMM---------------------------ICING--------------------------------
2 c Confectioners' sugar
1/4 c Orange juice
1 tb Butter
1 tb Grated orange zest

Set oven @ 325+|F/165+|C.

In a bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and
fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg yolks and buttermilk.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and
salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with orange
juice and zest. Add egg whites and beat until smooth.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake until set, about 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks
to cool completely.

For icing, combine all ingredients and beat until
smooth. Frost cooled cookies.
