    From Brian Klauss@618:300/38 to All on Mon Mar 15 16:45:00 2021
    Good day! I hope all of you are well. For some time, I've been having
    issues reaching 618:100/1 for FREQing or even sending messages.
    Although my hub is 618:300/1, the relaying of messages is still throwing
    an error. Since I run Synchronet, I am getting the following error:

    BinkP got fatal error 'Bad password' from remote: 1:320/119@fidonet,1:320/0@fidonet,1:142/0@fidonet,9:91/16@survnet,10:4/2@league10,10:10/90@league10,33:860/1@advnet,46:10/256@agoranet,92:762/0@zenet,110:212/1@linuxnet,111:4950/101@stn,115:1502/119@pascalnt,510:269/1@justanet,618:100/1@micronet,618:100/10@micronet,618:100/0@micronet,618:10/0@micronet
    Mar 15 16:39:31 ciad1 sbbs: evnt BINKOUT Timed event: BINKOUT returned 0

    I have confirmed my passwords and they are all correct. I am now,
    officially, stumped.

    My configuration for Micronet is as follows:

    [node:618:300/1@micronet]
    Name = Kurt Weiske
    Comment = kweiske@realitycheckbbs.org
    Archive = None
    PacketType = 2+

    AreaFixPwd = [redacted]
    SessionPwd = [redacted]
    TicFilePwd = [redacted]

    BinkpPlainAuthOnly = false
    BinkpAllowPlainAuth = false
    BinkpAllowPlainText = true
    BinkpTLS = false
    BinkpSourceAddress =

    I do have a configuration 618:ALL which is pretty barren:

    [node:618:ALL]
    Name =
    Comment =
    Archive = None
    PacketType = 2+
    PacketPwd =

    BinkpPlainAuthOnly = false
    BinkpAllowPlainAuth = false
    BinkpAllowPlainText = true
    BinkpTLS = false
    BinkpSourceAddress =

    Any thoughts you may have to assist would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance!

    Easy one. Add "Route = 618:300/1" to the [ALL] block above.

    You need to add another node section like this one for 618:100/1, updating the values with those appropriate for our link.

    ie: BinkpHost = bbs.bnbbbs.net, Name = Andrew Leary, SessionPwd = <censored>, etc.

    I do have a configuration 618:ALL which is pretty barren:

    [node:618:ALL]

    I'm not sure that Synchronet supports such wildcard Node entries; this very well could be the source of your issue.

    I think Andrew already answered, but you need to have an entry for
    618:100/1 in sbbsecho.ini. The entry for 300 and ALL won't cover your connection with 100.

    Is SBBSECHO set up for secure mail? That might be the issue. I've my system set up to toss all inbound mail, secure and insecure, so I can route netmail properly in Micronet.

    You can accept insecure mail. The issue here, I think, is that it sounds
    like Brian was calling Andrew without an entry for him in his ini file and,
    if Andrew has him set up with a password on his end, it won't let Brian
    pick anything up.
