I've written an ANSI screen viewer for Linux that takes into account whether your terminal is CP437 or UTF-8. If it is UTF-8, it should properly translate the CP437 into UTF-8 characters.
If you'd like to try it, let me know and I'll crash the program to you.
I wrote it in 64-bit Free Pascal with a little help from M$ Copilot.
