    A new one I just heard about.. https://disroot.org

    The project is based in Amsterdam, was founded by Muppeth and
    Antilopa in 2015, it is maintained by volunteers and relies on
    the support of its community.

    Mailbox size limit: 1 GB
    Attachement size limit: 64 MB

    One particular feature..

    Delimiters: You can use delimiters (plus sign, "+") in your
    email address to create sub-addresses, like
    username+whatever@disroot.org, for example for filtering and
    tracking spam. Example: david@disroot.org can set up mail
    addresses like 'david+bank@disroot.org' that he could give to
    his bank. It can be used only to receive emails, not to send
    ones. Your emails will always be sent as david@disroot.org.

    I forgot about the dots handling in Gmail. The dot-thing can be
    handy so that people can't purposely fool people with
    sean.dennis@g vs seandennis@g, or s.dennis@g vs sdennis@g

    I have to give +1 to Gmail on forwardthinking on that one.

    Fastmail has plus addressing as well where you can both send and receive from a plus address (e.g jay+micronet@fastmail.com) and they also support
    subdomain addressing if you use a custom domain. With this you can send and receive from whateveryoulike@username.domain.tld (e.g micronet@jay.domain.tld). You can then setup rules if you like to put messages sent to those a specific folders (or delete them, etc).

    They now also offer "masked email" addresses which would forward to your real email address, e.g: 85TXa49od@fastmail.com -> jay@fastmail.com

    Similar to what Apple how offers with their "hide my email" service.

    These would need to be generated ahead of time to work, unlike plus or subdomain addresses which would always just work. The neat thing is you can also delete these after they've been generated, so if you start receiving
    spam to that address you can simply delete the masked email address and problem solved.

    It's worth nothing that Fastmail does not offer a free service. It's $30 /year /user for 2GB of email storage and an @fastmail.com address or $50 /year /user for 30GB of email storage and the ability to use your own domain.

    For that cost you get no ads & no tracking. Fastmail is based out of Australia though their servers are located in the US.

    I have to give +1 to Gmail on forwardthinking on that one.

    It is forward thinking if you are thinking in terms of fooling spammers. It
    is not so great when your job includes trying to prevent persons from committing ID theft in order to illegally obtain a payout. Not so bad if
    it is not a large-scale provider of email service, but you cannot flag
    everyone with an @gmail.com address.
