    I have a pc that has limited or non-fuctional usb2 ports. I'd
like to have support for fast usb3 devices. Is there a
reasonably-priced usb3-over-eth solution? The Digi AnywhereUSB
AW02-G300 sounds awesome but it is over $400.

There are PCI-X USB 3 cards out there, relatively cheap. They'd give you 1-3 U SB 3 ports on the back of the case.

I'd like it for a legacy laptop. I've looked at PCMCIA slot
solutions, but I haven't found anything except cards that refer
to fitting PCMCIA 54mm lots, but the products refer to Express
    Card.
