Welcome! (I believe we have exchanged messages in Tildeverse IRC's
    #offthegrid channel before)

I came to know of NNTP Netnews for quite some time, but I haven't used it
until I first connected to Tildeverse Netnews too.

I'm trying to explore the social part of unix/linux sytems.

UNIX started out as a timesharing system, so it was originally a communal way of using a computer. It was only after the advent of personal computer
and mainstream Internet access that these became ghost factory towns. [1]

Thank you for giving me a place on ~pink

    Greetings from Tilde.club. [2] Technically, both Tilde.pink
and Tilde.institute are currently not participating
in Tildeverse Netnews yet; but this is what public gateway is for.

    Have a good day!

    Likewise, and see you around.

    Cheers,
    ~xwindows

[2] Fun fact: `news.tildeverse.org` is actually an alias of `tilde.club`,
which acts as a public gateway for Tildeverse Netnews.

Hope we can fix that soon. pink used to have a node. cosmic is still
configured to try and peer with it!

    Also, welcome new people!

    Yes, we have!

way of using a computer. It was only after the advent of personal computer >> and mainstream Internet access that these became ghost factory towns. [1]
I feel so lucky that I found ~verse
It was on a whim that I decided to explore gemini and found out about ~pink Unix systems may have become ghost factory towns but they feel better than the rest of the overcrowded web.

I will follow this with actual reply later; but first I would have to note
that I have received the message I just quoted above in my /mailbox/
rather than NNTP Netnews, which is quite odd, and I think it is not what
you intended to do when replying. I have some guess:

You used TIN to reply to Netnews, right?

Note that replying key in TIN can be a bit counterintuitive: pressing `r` wouldn't really post your reply to Netnews: it would send an _email_ reply
to the parent poster directly instead (meaning only me would see the reply); which this is what I think it was not what you intended to do.

A correct way to make TIN actually post a reply to Netnews is pressing `f` ("follow-up") instead.

Full information on this is available in TIN's in-program help,
accessible using `h` key while viewing a Netnews article
(scroll down to "Group/thread/article operations" section):

    Group/thread/article operations
    -
w post (write) article to current group
    ^O post postponed articles
    O post postponed articles
f post followup to current article
F post followup (don't copy text) to current article
^W post followup to current article quoting complete headers
x repost chosen article to another group
D cancel (delete) or supersede (overwrite) current article
r reply through mail to author
^E reply through mail to author quoting complete headers
    e edit article (mail-groups only)

    Regards,
    ~xwindows

P.S. I'm writing this post in a special way which contain correct thread cross-reference to both your email reply and your original Netnews post.

Within next few days, I would try to graft your original reply email
    back into the news spool too (no need to re-send your original reply);
if you don't have any particular objection that is.
