Dave's recent batch of sammaches triggered a memory of going to
functions with my aunt who would make this weird multi coloured
layered sammich.
Anyone have a guess on what it was? I /think/ one layer was salman
but I can't be sure.

I am guessing the contents of the layers would be up to the
preferences of the preparer, so a salmon spread would also be a candidate.

Just glad someone knew what I was asking about, I have such little
to go on.
Thanks for the explanation.

I have only seen and eaten them. I am hoping that someone with
experience preparing them, or at least paying better attention to
what they are eating, will pipe up with more details. ;)
Might be cream cheese. Were the layers all different?
If it wasn't too big for the mouth or slippery/sloppy then apt to be various thin meat cuts with thin condiment layers.
How many layers do you seem to recall?
