• Amendment 14, Section 4

From IB Joe@1:342/200 to All on Fri May 26 10:15:28 2023
Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection and Other Rights

    Section 4 Public Debt

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

I have seen a few people here site the 14th amendment as a way work around congresses absolute authority to hold the purse strings of the US. The founding fathers did not want the president to have the ability to unilaterally fund whatever and do whatever he wanted...

This section was added in to assist the president, at the time, in reconstruction. The president seeded a wide range of options to help reconstruct and bring the nation back from where the civil war left us. Now everyone should remember that it was the southern Democrats that wanted to secede from the union to keep their slaves... having said this...

Why do the left, or the left who read this echo, ignore this...

"But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

What does this mean?? Simple, the debt that was accumulated by the Confederates note the "insurrection or rebellion against the United States" part... then the "all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void." part...

Congress gave the ability to rebuild the country, and take care of business, while not taking on the debt of southern Democrats, AKA the Confederates.

The section of this amendment was not pout in the constitution so that Joe Biden could print money to pay for gender affirming car.

I happen to listen to a video on this topic from a constitutional expert. Mark Levin. This is a Fox News video but he also can be seen on Blaze TV and Levin TV. I know that it 13 minutes long, but it's worth the view.

    Hello Joe,

Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection and Other Rights

    Section 4 Public Debt

    * Amendment XIV
Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.

Remains part of the US Constitution.
    To this very day.
And every bit as valid today as it was then.

Do you have a problem with that?

    [..]

This section was added in to assist the president, at the time, in reconstruction.

    READ THE FUCKING AMENDMENT, JUNIOR!

It has nothing to do with any idea "to assist the president" at any
time, whether during or after reconstruction.

And when, pray tell, did the amendment mention reconstruction, how
long recontruction would last, or when reconstruction would end?

What are the duties of the president? Do you even have a clue?
I'll give you a hint. You can find the answer in the US Constitution.

The president seeded a wide range of options to help reconstruct and bring the nation back from where the civil war left us. Now everyone should remember that it was the southern Democrats that wanted to secede from the union to keep their slaves... having said this...

President Abraham Lincoln never freed the slaves. Nor did he ever
intend to do so. Slavery continued to be legal throughout his time
in office, with no amendment even being attempted to ban it. Slave
owners in the northern states were allowed to sell their slaves to
slave owners in the south, and then states in the north would ban
slaves from being sold, after the slaves had already been sold.

But enough about slavery and reconstruction. We all know slavery
continued to exist in other forms - such as Jim Crow. And we also
know reconstruction is just another word for federal occupation.

I hate to bust your bubble junior, but the entire amendment (not just
section 4) remains part of the US Constitution - to this very day.
It is not just for Democrats. It is not just for Republicans. It is
for "we the people" of the United States of America.

Today that includes blacks. And women. And gays. And lesbians.
And trans. And other folks you and your kind do not like.

Why do the left, or the left who read this echo, ignore this...

    One more time, junior -

Amendment 14, Section 4, is an admonition for the Congress to
"continue to pay its bills" and "validity of the public debt" -
regardless of what else you might think it means.

IOW, the POTUS can sit back and choose not to do a damn thing.
After all, it is not his duty, but rather that of Congress, to
    pay the bills.

Don't believe me? READ YOUR FUCKING CONSTITUTION!

"But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or
obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

    What does this mean??

It means the Congress has to do its job, in due accordance to the
US Constitution. That includes paying its bills (on time so as not
    to default).

Simple, the debt that was accumulated by the Confederates note the insurrection or rebellion against the United States" part... then the "all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void." part...

You are one stupid fuck. Not just a mere MAGA nutjob. Not even
Abraham Lincoln recognized the Confederate States of America as
an independent country. Nor did the Congress during his day.

Remember, General Lee surrendered to General Grant. Not the other
way around. President Jefferson Davis lost his gig, and went into
hiding, but was caught and held without charges until he was let
    go on his own recognition.

When the Amendment was passed, there was no war, all the states
were flying the same flag, and the Confederacy had ceased to be.

So please start talking sense. If you can.

Congress gave the ability to rebuild the country, and take care of business,
while not taking on the debt of southern Democrats, AKA the Confederates.

Blaming everything on President Jefferson Davis of the Confederate
States of America for all of your problems is a bit of a stretch ...

The section of this amendment was not pout in the constitution so that Joe Biden could print money to pay for gender affirming car.

Abraham Lincoln was dead. Jefferson Davis was no longer in office.
The Confederate States of America no longer existed. And Ulysses Grant
was enjoying his retirement from the military, preparing himself for
a new career in politics ...

I happen to listen to a video on this topic from a constitutional expert. Mark Levin. This is a Fox News video but he also can be seen on Blaze TV and Levin TV. I know that it 13 minutes long, but it's worth the view.

Sorry. I don't watch the Fox Propaganda Channel.

I don't have a problem with it. You have a problem with reading the entire section, you read 1 or 2 words and come to some conclusion but only after you negate 97% of the reading. You also refuse to look at context and history, these are the exact things the Supreme court will be looking at to see if what the left wants to do.

As soon as I heard they wanted to use the Equal Protection Clause I started asking a few questions...

The GOP has said... there was a 20% increase in discretionary spending in the last year, can you lower that by 1%. Joe Biden says NO....

Excuse me? I cited the entire amendment, not just part of it.
You are the one who chose to highlight section 4, leaving out
the majority of the amendment itself.

You also refuse to look at context and history, these are the exact things the Supreme court will be looking at to see if what the left wants to do.

The entire amendment remains intact today from the day it was
passed and enacted. You might not like it, but it is true.

As soon as I heard they wanted to use the Equal Protection Clause I started
    asking a few questions...

All of the amendment is a part of the US Constitution. Not just
the bits and pieces you like, leaving out the parts you do not like.

    The GOP has said...

Who, or what, is the GOP? Does it have a name? Is it a person?
An idea? And why should anybody care? Whatever it is, it speaks
    only for itself.

there was a 20% increase in discretionary spending in the last year, can you
lower that by 1%. Joe Biden says NO....

What are the duties of the President?

Can you answer that one simple question?

It really isn't that hard ...

It is actually much more than that, as the majority Republican
Congress under Trump raised the debt ceiling three times, rather
    than pay the bills.

Of course, MAGA nutjobs do not understand the difference between

Well, I think that the TCJA actually amounted to that.

The total amount that the GOP stole from the taxpayers during those four years, using their credit card, meaning the next generations have to pay for it, amounted to $7.8T if that's what you are thinking of.
